Views On “ROI: Is That iPad 2 Really Worth $2,000?”
Brett
Some people just don’t appreciate what they but. For them, don’t buy whatever it is.
But if you truly appreciate something, if it adds value to your life, it it improves your productivity and allows you to get more done in less time or live a better life, then spending the money may be worth it for the value you receive over time.
Your calculations seem to leave out the value received.
Also, you are making two other invalid assumptions:
1) That the person would invest the money.
2) That they would invest it wisely and beat the rate of inflation.
Could be your $500 will be worthless in 30 years. A bad investment or hyper-inflation (or a combination of both) could wipe you out.
Just things to think about.
