Wedding MC Guide
Being asked be Master of Ceremonies at a wedding reception is a great honor and an awesome responsibility. Speaking to a room of people fresh from the emotion of a wedding requires preparation and special care. Use the following ideas as your wedding mc guide.
It is very important to consult the couple’s wedding planner. This is usually a hired consultant or a member of the bride’s family. They will tell you what they expect from your remarks. Please adhere to their wishes; “winging it” can be disastrous.
Here are some ironclad rules, even if your instructions didn’t contain them, that the successful wedding MC will follow:
Be respectful of everyone in the room.
Keep your remarks and jokes clean. Also out are religious, racial, or negative jests.
No embarrassing stories about the couple.
Keep your alcohol consumption to a minimum. Alcohol loosens inhibitions; you want to be in complete control of your words and actions.
This is your gift to the newlyweds; make sure it’s the best one they receive.
