Just because it isn’t sunny out doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a trek through the great outdoors. You’ll simply have to remember a few important things before heading out. First and foremost, have your route planned out and let someone know where you’re going and how long you’ll be gone. You never know when an emergency can happen and this little detail could save your life if you find yourself injured in the woods. Be sure to have all of your equipment prepared for the poor weather. Waterproof hiking boots and dry socks are a must, as well as a parka and plastic covers for your maps and any other papers that may get wet. Also be sure to have a good flashlight, compass, knife and first-aid kit before you head out. Follow your plan, keep your gear as dry as possible and you’ll have an adventure to remember!
